Ironically batman shot this world threatening foe with a gun and a bullet that can kill godlike beings, before being burned to death by this enemy´s rays.(theese rays leave some room for speculations, since mr. miracle was hit by them before, his body being severly damaged and his spirit trapped in a dimensional prison of eternal deaths... but mr. miracle returned...) as far as i know batman was killed in a fight against an enemy of the JLA (was it darkside???).

Nolan as a writer has definitely picked up the Batman franchise and giving it a good kick up the cape. A twist like that would be amazing. It's hard to look beyond The Dark Knight though. He's used the best villains to their best potential, he shouldn't even consider bringing in Robin or Batgirl; where do you go from there? The Nolan's are such good writers though that I'm sure something amazing will come up. The Scribbler will naturally keep you up-to-date with all the latest developments with Batman 3 and it's script. It would be sad, but it hasn't been done before, and I think it would make a great ending to the new (greatest) batman franchise.
